Falkirk 2 - 0 Dunfermline Athletic

In the end, it all went a little flat. After a goal-less first half, Falkirk went ahead early in the second half with a simple goal, poorly defended. A late penalty snuffed out any lingering hopes of glory, but the Pars never looked like doing it with a tired performance on a sub-standard pitch.

Saints had the better of the first half after two early injury blows unsettled the Pars, but the visitors more than matched the league leaders in the second. However the game finished goal-less, despite a couple of half-decent penalty shouts.

In the end a share of the points was about right, although having had much the better of the second half Airdrie will be upset to have chucked a couple of points away at the end. The Pars had played reasonably well in the first half with nothing to show for it, but only started to show some real rgency after going behind to Darren Smith’s fine free-kick.
