Squealadeal Prediction League
Date: Saturday, 2nd Aug 2014Squealadeal have once more agreed to sponsor the dafc.net Pediction League for the 2014/15 season. So it will be £100 for first Prize, £50 for second Prize and £25 for 3rd Prize.
Well sadly we all have to face another season in the seaside league. But at least the majority of teams will be well known to us and in terms of predictions. Last season’s Squealadeal 2013/14 Champion Superally won the league with a week to spare with a score of 837pts. Diablop4r and DJAS led the chasing pack to gain the runners up spots so will the champion retain his crown for the 2014/15 season or will there be a new challenger hoping to blag the 2014/15 title.
The fantastic news is that Squealadeal have once more agreed to sponsor the dafc.net Pediction League for the 2014/15 season. So it will be £100 for first Prize, £50 for second Prize and £25 for 3rd Prize. And who knows what other surprises we have for you as we go along the season. The prizes are all for vouchers to be spent within DAFC so as a supporter its a win, win.
I wish to extend a warm welcome to all last year’s participants and any new faces to this seasons Prediction League. let’s see who will earn the blagging rights for next season. As before I will endeavour to have the fixtures up in advance, post reminders before games on the football forum and to have all the scores updated ASAP (usually the same day). So are you feeling lucky check out the rules below and join in! I’ll post the fixtures shortly.
The Rules
This is the important bit. Essentially they are the same as last years and the year before that etc etc!
The competition is supposed to be fun and it’s free!
All entries must take place before kick off or they will not be counted. You are free to edit your predictions up to the kick off time. If your late then tough! All predictions must be made via the appropriate dafc.net prediction league thread. Proxy entries can be made on behalf of others, but must be indicated they are doing so. For this season I can take any predictions made on the Prediction League Forum the new phone app and the dafc.net facebook. If you make the mistake of making multiple entries, I will only count the last set of predictions and treat them as an “edit”.
You will be allocated 5 jokers where you can double your score on any single prediction. If you are lucky you might score 20pts. However if you score 0pts, tough - thats why its a Joker! To play your Joker please indicate “Joker” or “J” after your prediction ie: Pars 2 Morton 0 Joker.
Now the Jokers are important because the dafc.net Prediction League is being sponsored for the first time by Squeal A Deal with a first prize of £100 and second and third prizes of £50 & £25 we need to have a clear 1st, 2nd & 3rd. With the possibility there may be a tie I will do a count back of the Jokers used to establish the winners. So use your wisdom and judgement carefully! I’m not infallible and will occasionally make the odd ballsup. If you spot a problem with your scores, let me know and I will amend them - if I agree! Ohh and if there are any other problems, I will act as adjudicator!!
The scoring, (This seems complicated, but its not!)
Correct score 10pts
Right result, but wrong score 5pts
Right score by team 2pts
I have screwed up my prediction 0pts
So if you predict:
Dunfermline 2 Morton 0, and the result is 2-0 Your score is 10 pts, (Correct score)
Peterhead 1 Arbroath 1, and the result is 2-2 Your score is 5pts (Right result, but wrong score)
Forfar 1 Brechin 3, and the result is 1-0 Your score is 2pts (Wrong result, but correct score for Forfar)
Ayr Utd 2 Stirling Albion 1 and the result is 2-0 Your score is 7pts (correct score for Ayr Utd & right result)
Stenhousemuir 2 Stranraer 1 and the result is 1-3 Your score is 0pts (Suffer the ignominy!)
And remember if you add a Joker to any of these predictions your score is doubled!
Just to rub it in the ignominy of the “facepalm” award will be given to the few who score a blank after all we all love a laugh at the misfortunate
