Starting his career with Airdrieonians F.C. McCann played 94 games scoring 7 goals. This led too him signing for Premier league Hearts where he only made 39 appearances and 1 goal. Looking for more regular football McCann left Heart, and had spells with Clyde, Boston United and Notts County. McCann then returned to Scotland With Dunfermline in May 2008 having earlier signed a pre contract with the club.
