Istvan had previously played for Salgotarjani TC, Ujpesti Dozsa, and Bordeaux before making his move to Scotland.

Signed by Jim Leishman for Dunfermline on 5th September 1989 for £550,000 and debuted only four days later v Motherwell. His finest moments included a hat trick against St Mirren in 1991, and playing in the League Cup final in 1991.

Without a doubt one of Leishmans greatest signings, he won the Pars fans hearts the couple of years he was at East End Park, and remains a club legend, after being named in the squad 11 off all time.

He made 103 appearances for the Pars which saw him score 9 goals.



Recently appeared back at East End Park in the Stewart Petrie testimonial game, he stated "it was like being back home".
